    Tree and bush replacement options

    For electric customers approved for the Trade A Tree program, these options are available with your voucher. Some species listed are seasonal options and subject to availability.

    The heights outlined below are when the tree/bush is fully matured. It is important that there is enough space in the area you want the tree/bush planted for it to fully mature without presenting problems. Additional blooming and plant information can be found at Missouri Botanical Garden.

    Amur Maple tree

    15 to 20 feet high X 20 feet wide

     

    Average growth rate. Full shade to full sun. Fragrant inconspicuous spring flowers. Brilliant red foliage.

    Edible Apple tree

    10 to 15 feet high X 15 feet wide

     

    Average growth rate. Full sun. Attracts birds and fruit is edible. Different types of apple trees are available.

    Crabapple tree

    15 to 20 feet high X 15 to 20 feet wide

     

    Average growth rate. Full sun for best flowers. Fragrant spring flowers in white or pink. A showy landscape choice. Different types of Crabapples are available.

    Eastern Redbud tree

    20 feet high X 25 feet wide

     

    Fast growth rate. Full sun or partly shaded. Rosy pink or purple flowers appear in April. Reddish purple leaves change from dark green then to yellow. Forms a spreading, graceful crown.

    Average growth rate. Full sun or partly shaded. Several species in various shapes, sizes and colors. Fragrant, evergreen foliage.

    Average growth rate. Full sun or partly shaded. Fragrant summer lavender or white blooms. Branched trunk, no change of color in the fall.

    Fast growth rate. Partially shaded to full sun. Several species are available.

    Edible Cherry Tree

    Medium growth rate. Full sun. White to pink flowers in the spring. Fruit in mid-to-late summer, ideal for use in pies/cobblers. These trees are usually available April-June. Some species may not be available at certain times of the year.

    Serviceberry

    Average growth rate. Partial shade to full sun. Attractive white flowers in spring. Orange, red, yellow fall color.

    Smoke Bush

    Slow growth rate. Full sun. Attractive white and pink blossoms in spring and summer. Leaves stay purple through summer and fall.

    Korean Spice Viburnum

    6 to 10 feet high X 6 to 10 feet wide

     

    Average growth rate. Full to partial sun. Attractive white flowers in spring. Fall color, fragrance and size are determined by species available.

    Yew Bush

    Slow growth rate. Full to partial sun. Evergreen foliage grows extremely well in full day sun with plenty of room to grow.
