Beginning Sept. 1, the City of Columbia’s Utility Customer Service will update its phone service hours of operation.

• Monday to Friday

Help the City keep recycling out of the landfill

The Solid Waste Utility is working to transfer some recyclable materials outside the City. To help maximize the value of materials, it is necessary to update the materials that customers should recycle. The City asks customers to use their blue recycling bags for the following materials:
• Plastic bottles (water, soda, juice, soft drink)
• Plastic containers (milk jugs, detergent bottles, shampoo bottles)
• Aluminum beverage cans
• Metal food cans

New water rates begin in October

The City of Columbia's new Water Utility rate structure is expected to decrease monthly bills for residential customers who have consistent monthly usage (an estimated 65% of residential customers). The new rates will take effect with the first billing cycle in October 2025.
• Residential base charge: $14.32
• Tier 1 usage: $2.30 per ccf
• Tier 2 usage: $6.33 per ccf
• Tier 3 usage: $10.20 per ccf
