Detailed Project Information: Currently, the Rte. 763 and Smiley Lane intersection has conventional pedestrian signs and signals. Two sidewalk ramps on the northeast and southwest corners also do not meet current ADA criteria. The preliminary design includes the installation of new signal equipment including audible pedestrian signals with countdown timers at the intersection and reconstruction of the sidewalk ramps on the northeast and southwest corners. Also, existing pedestrian crossing markings will be repainted. No easements are expected to be needed for the proposed improvements. Rte. 763 is designated as a major arterial. Smiley Lane is designated as a major collector on the west and a neighborhood collector on the east from the intersection. The total preliminary cost estimate for this project is $83,000. The project will be funded with the ¼ Cent Capital Improvement Program sales tax. Construction of the project is currently scheduled to begin this winter.
