2015-2025 quarter-cent Capital Improvement Projects

In August 2015 voters approved an extension of a 1/4 cent capital improvement sales tax which will sunset in December of 2025. In total, voters approved $99.3 million in Public Safety and Public Works projects. Additional funding sources are also sought to support these and other capital improvement projects. Following is a list of projects associated with the 2015 ballot. Each project must pass through the City’s Public Involvement Process and be approved by City Council before construction can begin.

  • Range Line Street – Major Maintenance (between Rogers Street and Wilkes Boulevard)
  • Garth Avenue – Major Maintenance
  • Walnut Street – Major Maintenance
  • Ash Street at Clinkscales, Pershing, West Blvd and Garth Avenue: 4-Way Stop Removal – Roundabout Corridor
  • Ballenger Lane – Ria Street to Mexico Gravel Road: Widening shoulders
  • Forum Blvd – Chapel Hill to Woodrail: New bridge and widening to four lanes
  • Fairview Road at Chapel Hill –  Intersection Improvement
  • Forum Blvd at Green Meadows Road Intersection Improvement Project: Roundabout
  • Nifong Blvd from Providence Road to Forum Blvd: Addition of two lanes and Bethel Street Intersection Improvements
  • Old Mill Creek Road at Vawter School/Nifong Blvd Intersection Improvements
  • Sinclair Road at Nifong Blvd Intersection Improvements
  • Vandiver Drive at Parker Avenue Intersection Improvement Project: Roundabout
  • Discovery Parkway from Gans Road to New Haven Road: Roadway extension
