Sept. 1, 2017:  Emery Sapp & Sons has completed construction on Discovery Drive South. The Discovery Drive and Sanitary Sewer Extension project is a Public Works capital improvement project that was estimated to be completed by mid-to-late summer.  The project was completed in partnership with the University of Missouri and funded through a grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration as well as the 2005 Capital Improvement Sales Tax. Discovery Ridge is an emerging research park development that the University describes as “a thriving environment of business and research activity – in an atmosphere of innovation, collaboration and creativity.”  The Discovery Drive capital improvement project included the extension of the roadway, telecommunications lines and the sanitary sewer to the south of the existing intersection of Discovery Drive and Discovery Parkway. ADA-compliant crosswalks were also added at the intersection. “There is some landscaping that is still being managed,” City of Columbia Engineering Superintendent David Fennewald said. “But construction is complete and we’re very happy with the result.”
