About the art

“There is an old homestead on the Missouri River near Easley that I visit frequently to paint.  I was struck at how timeless this view was:  the rusty bike leaning against the last remnant of fencing with the abandoned rail road paralleling the river. It was a visual time capsule, but also a living connector with barges following the river and bikes still riding the Katy Trail. It was that sense of nostalgia and vibrancy that I strove to capture in this image.” – Colette Brumbaugh
