American Legion Park is a 17-acre community park that is home to the only archery range in Columbia's park system. It also has two lighted baseball fields, concession stand/restrooms, fishing pond, two non-reservable picnic shelters, and playground. American Legion Herbert Williams Post 202 is located on 3 acres of the 20-acre property.
Atkins Park is home to a premiere five-field lighted, irrigated baseball complex complete with batting cages, concession stand/restrooms, picnic areas, and picnic shelter. The park is located in north Columbia adjacent to the Boone County Fairgrounds. It is jointly owned by the City of Columbia and the County of Boone and managed by Columbia Parks and Recreation.
Cosmo Park is Columbia's largest municipal park, one of two regional parks in the park system. It is host to the annual Show-Me State Games as well as many soccer, football, lacrosse, softball, baseball, golf, tennis, mountain bike, and skateboard tournaments and events. It has the largest playground in Columbia's park system - Steinberg Playground, is home to Columbia Skate Park and L. A. Nickell Golf Course, and is a trailhead for the Bear Creek Trail.
This 40-acre community park is adjacent to Gentry Middle School. It shares a 12-court tennis complex with Columbia Public Schools, has a fishing lake with a lakeside trail, reservable shelters, playground, horseshoe pits, year-round restroom, and baseball/softball practice field. In the winter, the lake is stocked with trout for a winter trout fishing program. In the winter when the lake ice depth meets the criteria, the lake is opened for ice fishing.
Lake of the Woods Recreation Area has an 18-hole golf course, clubhouse with concessions, driving range, fishing lake, and outdoor swimming pool. It's a great place for family recreation. The golf course has three sets of tees, sand traps, mature trees, large zoysia fairways, bentgrass greens, lakes, golf cart paths, and tee to green watering systems. The course is open year round, weather permitting. Lake of the Woods Pool features a double water slide, bathhouse, shade umbrellas, and lounge chairs.
Nifong Park is known for its historical properties. It is home to the Boone County History & Culture Center, the historical Village at Boone Junction, and Maplewood Home and grounds. The Maplewood Barn Theater hosts live shows and the park is host to the annual Heritage Festival. The park also has a reservable shelter, fishing lake and dock, playground, picnic areas, and restrooms.
This 140-acre park is located off of the Discovery Parkway exit (Hwy 62) and is next to Father Tolton Catholic High School and across the road from Gans Creek Recreation Area. Philips Park was master planned in conjunction with the the Gans Creek Recreation Area for the development of a southeast regional park. Philips Park is known for its 40-acre fishing lake, which is stocked with fish by the Missouri Department of Conservation. Park amenities includes a fishing dock, boat dock, boat ramp, picnic areas, restrooms, and a 1.4-mile gravel trail that encircles the lake. It is also home to the Columbia Sports Fieldhouse, which has four hardwood courts designed for basketball, pickleball, volleyball and archery.
Smith Park is a community park adjacent to Alpha Hart Lewis Elementary School. The park sits on 50 acres with a 2.8 acre pond, 0.3 mile lake trail, large reservable shelter, playground, skate park, basketball court, baseball/softball practice field, restrooms, and parking lot.
Stephens Lake Park is the crown jewel of Columbia's park system and is known for its 11-acre fishing/swimming lake, mature trees, and historical significance in the community. It serves as the center for outdoor winter sports, a variety of community festivals, and outdoor concert series at the amphitheater. It has reservable shelters, playgrounds, swimming beach and spraygrounds, art sculpture, waterfalls, and walking trails. This popular park houses numerous tree collections, including red bud, oak, conifer and nut trees, along with the Hindman Memorial Garden, Children's Grove, and demonstration rain gardens, which have earned it a Level II Arboretum Accreditation.
Twin Lakes Recreation Area is a 73 acre community park in south Columbia. Amenities include a fishing lake, a water play area for kids - Little Mates Cove, a dog park, picnic areas, and access to the County House and MKT Trails.
