Project Description: The City will contribute $150,000 each towards gym expansion at the next two planned new elementary schools. In exchange for the City’s contribution, the gyms will be larger, contain bleachers for spectator seating and consist of a flooring material that is suitable for various athletic games and practices for Parks and Recreation leagues. The City and Columbia Public Schools will enter an co-op agreement, wherein Parks and Recreation will have priority scheduling for youth sports games and practices during non-school hours in exchange for their funding contribution.
Schools chosen for this program were Eliot Battle Elementary School and Beulah Ralph Elementary School
