History
Columbia Parks and Recreation has provided funding for improvements to playgrounds and/or other park facilities on school grounds that are made available for use by the public during non-school hours. These cooperative projects between the City and School District save taxpayer dollars by avoiding duplication of facilities.
Annual funding, when available, is set aside each year for this program. Below is a chart showing the schools that have benefited from this program since 1998. The Park Sales Tax has been the funding source for these City/School co-op projects since 2006.

- CDBG – Community Development Block Grant, U.S. Dept. of Housing & Development.
- 1/4 99 Sales Tax – Quarter cent sales tax passed by voters in 1999 to fund capital projects.
- Park Sales Tax – One-eighth cent sales tax dedicated funding for park capital improvement projects originally passed by voters in 2000, extended in 2005, 2010 and again in 2015. It is scheduled to expire on March 31, 2022.
