A. Change Your Air Filters!
Let’s be honest, all of us are always looking for “life-hacks” to make our hectic lives easier. Well we found a new one for you! You don’t even have to leave your home.
One of the easiest ways to lower your energy bill is to change your air filters regularly. According to the EPA, doing this can cut 5-15% off your heating and cooling bill!
Now you’re asking yourself, when was the last time I changed my air filters? Not to worry, it’s easy to forget. Your air filters are out of sight and therefore out of mind. So how do you ensure that you remember to change your filters?
It’s easy with FilterEasy.
They deliver your filters right to your door every 1, 2, or 3 months, acting as a physical reminder to change them. You’re saving energy while having one less thing to worry about. FilterEasy’s filters are the same price or less than the filters at the store and shipping is always free.

Why are Filters Important?
Perhaps you’re thinking, why do I even need air filters? They are more important than you might think. 100% of the air in your home passes through a filter, typically twice every hour. Since clean, quality air filters keep the air in your home fresh, the people inside stay healthier. A quality air filter captures the harmful bacteria typically found in sneezes, coughs, viruses and molds, as well as pollutants like dust and car fumes from outside the home.
Clean filters also keep your HVAC system healthy–they enable it to run more efficiently, keep repair costs to a minimum, and reduce monthly energy bills. Since about half of your monthly energy bill is attributed to HVAC, keeping clean air filters is the single most effective way to improve HVAC efficiency. Clogged filters make the HVAC work harder as it conditions your home, which raises your energy bill. (And if there are no filters, the coils will clog, which is even worse for your system!)
Go ahead and do yourself the favor. You’ll get free filters and Columbia will get a $5 donation as they compete for the Georgetown University Energy Prize. Never think about your filters again. It’s the least you can do!
