Columbia Police Chief’s Vehicle Stops Committee

The Committee addresses disparities in Columbia’s vehicle stop rates by:

1. examining existing data;
2. identifying variables affecting an officer’s decision to stop a vehicle;
3. finding solutions, methods or processes to fill data gaps;
4. setting a timeline for research;
5. identifying policing training/best practices that should be examined for changes; 
6. making recommendations to the Police Chief as the committee comes to consensus.
