Divine Sunset

Born in Ohio, and raised in Central Missouri, Mahieu grew up in a rural setting exploring the countryside from horseback. There he immersed in himself in nature, which later resurfaced in his plein air paintings.  Mahieu graduated from Columbia College cum laude, receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1989.Following his graduation he operated a fine art gallery in downtown Columbia Missouri for several years.

Mahieu has exhibited in New York, NY and Carmel, CA and has paintings in public and private collections throughout the United States, Europe, the United Kingdom and Australia. His work is also in the contemporary artist collection of the State Historical Society of Missouri. The largest public collection of Mahieu’s work is found at the World Aquarium in St Louis.
