What is Web Mail? Web Mail is an email list where subscribers can elect to receive notifications from the City of Columbia.
What type of notifications will I be sent? Various notification lists have been developed, some examples include: simple sports cancellation announcements, newsletter postings, and press releases.
Will my email address be sold or viewed by anyone? Your email address will only be used by the City of Columbia to submit messages posted to the subscriptions that you have requested. All of our subscriptions are private and other list members will not be able to view your email address. Email addresses are not exempt under the Sunshine Law, if requested a list of email address would have to be provided to the requester. View the City of Columbia's privacy policy for additional information.
Will I be able to post messages to other members of a Web Mail list? All of our lists are restricted. Only list moderators and administrators are allowed to post messages to a list.
How do I subscribe to a new Web Mail list? Visit the Web Mail subscription page, enter your email address, and select any lists that you would like to be subscribed to. After you submit your request, you will receive an email with instructions for confirming your subscription(s).
I currently receive newsletters as paper documents, will I stop receiving paper versions? If you were added to a mailing list through direct request you can choose to receive only Web Mail subscriptions. When subscribing to this type of list you will be given the option to discontinue the hard copy subscription.
How do I make changes to an existing subscription or unsubscribe? You can make changes to your account or unsubscribe by selecting the edit option for the desired Web Mail list on the main Web Mail subscription page.
I am subscribed to multiple lists, can I have one password that will work for all my subscriptions? You can change the password on all of your lists at once by selecting one of your lists on the main Web Mail subscription page. After you have logged in, scroll down the membership configuration page and look for the section to change your password. Enter a new password, confirm it by entering it again, select "Change globally", and select "Change My Password".
