Formerly known as Old 63 Roadside Park, Sterling W. Wyatt Park was renamed in honor of Army Specialist Sterling William Wyatt, a former Shepard resident who lost his life while on patrol in Afghanistan. Spc. Wyatt grew up in Columbia and attended Shepard Elementary School, Lange Middle School, Oakland Junior High School, and Rock Bridge High School. The City Council officially adopted the park name change on November 4, 2013.
