Columbia Public Works announces that beginning on Thursday, December 6, Two Alpha Contracting of Wright City, MO will begin work on the South Providence Road Bikeway Bio-retention project.
The project includes the rehabilitation and construction of several bio-retention basins and landscaping along the bike path utilizing best management practices. The project, when complete, will assist in slowing and retaining storm water runoff during rain events and help reduce or prevent the accumulation of water and silt on the bikeway thus increasing the safety and usability of the bikeway.
This project is funded by the Non-Motorized Transportation Grant with a project cost estimated at $108,100.
Bikeway users should expect some temporary trail closures and should exercise caution when in the construction areas. The project is scheduled to be complete in the spring of 2013, weather permitting.
Thank you for your patience while we make improvements to this project.
