COVID-19 updated/bivalent booster and flu vaccine clinic at PHHS, Jan. 7

(COLUMBIA, MO) - Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services (PHHS) will host a COVID-19 booster and flu vaccine clinic Saturday, Jan. 7, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at PHHS, 1005 W. Worley St., Columbia.

Members of the public are welcome to attend. No appointments are needed.

Updated/bivalent Pfizer booster doses will be available for those ages 5 years and older. Updated/bivalent Moderna booster doses will be available for those ages 12 and older. The updated booster is recommended as a single booster dose at least two months following a primary series or previous booster vaccination.

The updated (bivalent) boosters are called "bivalent" because they protect against both the original virus that causes COVID-19 and the Omicron variant BA.4 and BA.5.

COVID vaccines through PHHS are free and do not require ID or health insurance. Flu vaccines will also be provided free to those 6 months through 64 years of age. There will be no high dose flu vaccine (recommended for ages 65 and older) available at this clinic. Parental consent forms are required for anyone under the age of 18.

In addition to these clinics, vaccination opportunities are available with other local vaccinators. The list of vaccinators and their information can be found by visiting: CoMo.gov/CovidVaccine.
