(COLUMBIA, MO) -

Columbia Public Works announces that the Parkside Mulch site on Parkside Drive just west of Creasy Springs Road will close on Thursday, September 20 for approximately six weeks. During this time, customers may take their items to the Capen Park Mulch site at 1600 Capen Park Drive just off Rock Quarry Road, or to the City Landfill at 5700 Peabody Road. During the closure of the Parkside Mulch site, there will be no compost tipping fee charged at the landfill for waste normally taken to the Parkside site.

The Parkside Mulch site will undergo site improvements including storm water management, fencing, and surface improvements.  Site improvements will be paid for with capital improvement project funds budgeted in 2012. Total site improvement costs are estimated at $77,982.00. The bid has been awarded to Plan B Development of Mexico, Mo.

Construction schedules are weather dependent. A press release will be issued when the Parkside Mulch site is reopened.
