City of Columbia Water & Light has scheduled an interested parties meeting to discuss Phase 1 of the McBaine Water Treatment Plant Improvement Project. The meeting will be from 4 to 6 p.m., Feb. 22, in Conference Room 1A at City Hall, 701 E. Broadway.
Because some equipment in the facility is nearing the end of its useful life, the treatment plant has the ability to reliably treat only 24 million gallons of water per day. This project will restore the plant’s capacity to treat 32 million gallons of water per day and includes rehabilitation and replacement projects that will enhance the performance and extend the life of the facility.
The budget for this project is about $24.5 million, which will be funded through the 2018 revenue bonds.
During the meeting, citizens can review preliminary plans, ask questions, make comments and complete a public comment form.
