Columbia Police respond to an assault with injuries in the 100 block of Benton Street, July 30

(COLUMBIA, MO) -

Columbia Police responded to the 100 block of Benton Street at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Friday, July 30 for a report of an assault.

Upon arrival officers located an adult female victim, who had sustained serious physical injuries. The victim was transported to a local hospital and is in stable condition. 

The suspect  was identified as Travis D. Groce, 30, of Columbia.  At approximately 2 a.m. officers located Groce in the 1100 block of Jewell Avenue and took him into custody for first degree domestic assault. 

This is an ongoing investigation. More information may become available at a later time.
