Update: Columbia Police arrest suspect involved in 2017 homicide in the 1900 block of Lasso Circ., May 10

(COLUMBIA, MO) -

Columbia Police have arrested 28 year-old Jeffrey McWilliams of Columbia for the charges of second degree murder, first degree robbery and armed criminal action for his involvement in a homicide that took place in the 1900 block of Lasso Circ. in December 2017.

At approximately 3:37 a.m. on Dec. 11, 2017, Columbia Police responded to a report of a suspicious person in the 1900 block of Lasso Circle. Officers arrived on scene and found a male subject unconscious and not breathing. Officers on scene rendered aid to the male until medical personnel arrived on scene and pronounced the male dead. 

During the course of the investigation, the male victim was identified as Augustus Jackson Roberts, 28, of Columbia.  

Columbia Police Department Detectives and the Forensic Evidence Unit were called to the 1900 block of Lasso Circle to gather information and process the crime scene. Investigators believed this home invasion was drug-related and this residence was targeted by the suspects.

This is an ongoing investigation and is being handled by the Department’s Criminal Investigation Division. More information may become available at a later time.
