Online interested parties meeting for Maplewood Drive Traffic Calming project scheduled for May 3-14

(COLUMBIA, MO) -

The City of Columbia Public Works department is requesting public feedback regarding the Maplewood Drive traffic calming project. As part of the City’s public involvement process for capital projects, and due to the impact of the coronavirus outbreak, Public Works is holding an online interested parties (IP) meeting from Monday, May 3 through Friday, May 14 at CoMo.gov/publicworks/maplewood-drive-traffic-calming.

The project is intended to use traffic calming devices to lower operating speeds on Maplewood Drive from West Broadway to Stanford Drive. Maplewood Drive is sixth on the 2019 Neighborhood Traffic Management Program Priority List. A previous interested parties meeting was held virtually from Nov. 30, 2020 through Dec. 11, 2020. Based upon the feedback, preliminary designs have been drafted.

Investment for this project is estimated at $30,000 paid for by the annual traffic calming funds.

The online comment period will run from May 3 to May 14.  During this time, citizens may review preliminary plans, contact Public Works staff with questions and comments and complete the IP Comment Form.

Public Works staff may be contacted via the City’s number at 573.874.2489 or via email at [email protected]. The completed IP comment form may be submitted via email or mailed to the City of Columbia Public Works Department, 701 E. Broadway, Columbia, Missouri 65205.  Please include "Maplewood Drive Traffic Calming" in the subject line.
