At approximately 11:16 a.m. on April 18, the Columbia Police Department responded to a report of a death that occurred in the 1000 block of Elleta Blvd.
Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim was an eight month old female.
During the course of the investigation, detectives with the Department’s Criminal Investigations Division were called to assist and determined the death of the infant was a homicide.
A suspect was identified as Jennifer Johnson, 44, of Fayette.
As a result, Johnson was arrested for second degree murder, child abuse and first degree child endangerment.
Johnson has been remanded to the custody of Boone County Jail.
This investigation is ongoing and is being handled by the Criminal Investigations Division. More details may become available later.
