Columbia Police investigate fatal pedestrian crash in the area of Range Line Street and Big Bear Boulevard, March 16

(COLUMBIA, MO) -

Date & Time:  Tuesday, March 16  at approximately 10:20 p.m.

Location:  Range Line Street /Big Bear Boulevard

Vehicle 1: 2004 Toyota Avalon

Driver 1: Paul Kemei, 47, Columbia, Missouri.  Seatbelt. No injuries.

Pedestrian 1: Cory Black, 46, Jefferson City, Missouri. Fatal Injuries. Next of kin has been notified.

Incident Details:

The crash occurred as Vehicle 1 drove southbound on Range Line Street approaching Big Bear Boulevard and Pedestrian 1 was lying in the driving lane on Range Line Street. Vehicle 1 attempted to change lanes but collided with Pedestrian 1, who suffered fatal injuries. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were a contributing factor.  

The investigation of the crash is ongoing. More information may become available at a later time.
