On Feb. 26 at 11:23 p.m., Columbia Police were conducting a watch in passing at La Quinta Inn, 2500 I-70 Drive Southwest and observed an occupied stolen vehicle as it was leaving the parking lot.
Officers observed two suspects in the vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The suspects refused to stop, and a short vehicle pursuit ensued. When the suspects turned out of the motel parking lot onto I-70 Drive Southwest, they fled from the vehicle on foot, leaving it in drive.
The vehicle subsequently rolled down an embankment and into a nearby creek.
The passenger, a juvenile, was taken into custody without incident.
The driver fled to the south on foot toward the Columbia Mall. A perimeter was established and a K9 track attempted, but the second suspect was not located.
