A 28-person crew reported at 7 a.m, replacing the night shift, to continue responding to winter weather. Priority routes are currently considered passable, examples of which may be found on our website at CoMo.gov/comosnow/home/examples-of-passable-roads/. Although a street may still be snow packed, a street is considered passable once an inspector determines that at least one travel lane is accessible for a front wheel drive vehicle at driving speeds well below the normal posted speed limits.
Crews have transitioned from priority routes to neighborhood streets. Progress on City residential streets may be viewed on our website at gis.gocolumbiamo.com/Street_and_Snow_Viewer/.
The City encourages all residents to voluntarily move their vehicles off all streets; however, parking enforcement will only occur on priority routes. Whenever snow accumulates more than two inches, any vehicle parked on a designated snow route must be moved off of the roadway or risk a fine of $100 plus towing and storage charges
Residents are reminded to remove snow from sidewalks adjacent to the property they own or rent. Sidewalks are used by residents to get to school, work and shopping. The City appreciates the effort to keep our sidewalks accessible.
Public Works and City staff will continue to closely monitor road conditions and adjust operational plans as needed. As winter weather can be unpredictable, residents are encouraged to closely monitor the forecast and changing road conditions throughout the mid-Missouri area. Motorists are advised to drive with caution.
Additional updates will be available via press release, on the City’s social media pages and at CoMoSnow.com.
