(COLUMBIA, MO) - Leaders from Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services, Boone Hospital Center and MU Health Care issued the following statement Friday, Jan. 22, regarding local COVID-19 vaccine availability.
"Our entities continue to work together to coordinate our local COVID-19 response. This includes creating comprehensive COVID-19 vaccination plans. Together we will be able to perform widespread vaccination clinics that can, over time, reach all members of our community who want to be vaccinated.
It's important to remember that vaccine supply remains extremely limited. For this reason, we continue working together to vaccinate those considered most at risk for COVID-19 exposure, including those who work in health care, residents of long-term care facilities, first responders, emergency response sectors, etc. These individuals are outlined in the Missouri Vaccination Plan under Phase 1A and Phase 1B, Tier 1.
In order to move into further tiers and phases, we must first receive additional vaccine supply from the state. The timing for this process is still uncertain as the state must first receive vaccine supplies from the federal government.
At this time, we ask for your patience and understanding as we determine the logistics of a large, coordinated effort such as this. We greatly appreciate the community's interest in getting a COVID-19 vaccine. Please sign up for vaccine updates at CoMo.gov/CovidVaccine by filling out a short survey. We will use the information you provide to notify you directly regarding COVID-19 vaccine availability.
When more vaccines are made available, we will issue further guidance in regards to where and when those in high-risk groups can receive their vaccination. Our organizations will work collaboratively to ensure that as many individuals as possible can be vaccinated. We appreciate the community's continued patience and understanding as we work through this process."
