Columbia Police arrest man involved in domestic assault incident that occurred in the 4700 block of King Salmon Way, Jan. 21

(COLUMBIA, MO) -

At approximately 7 a.m. on Jan. 21, Columbia Police responded to a report of a serious assault in the 4700 block of King Salmon Way. 

While en route, officers were notified by Boone County Joint Communications that a female victim in her mid-40s had been severely beaten.

Upon arrival, officers called for EMS medics, who rendered aid to the female victim. The victim was transported by EMS to a local hospital to be treated for her injuries. 

Officers were able to locate the suspect, identified as Jeffrey Zimmerman, 48, of Columbia. Zimmerman was also transported to a local hospital to be medically evaluated.

Upon release, Zimmerman will be arrested for the charges of first degree domestic assault, armed criminal action, kidnapping, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and property damage.

This is an ongoing investigation.  More information may become available at a later time.
