(COLUMBIA, MO) - City offices will be closed Monday, Jan. 18, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The regular City Council meeting will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 19.

Residential curbside trash will not be collected on the observed holiday and will be delayed by one day the remainder of the week. Go COMO, Columbia's public transit system, will not operate, and parking meter regulations will not be enforced on the observed holiday. Although administrative offices for both the police and fire departments will be closed, all other emergency services will be available.

Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services (PHHS) will not update COVID-19 numbers on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. PHHS will not update numbers on Saturday or Sunday, as they are no longer reporting on the weekends. The information hub at CoMo.gov/Coronavirus. will be updated on Tuesday, Jan. 19.

The City's Activity & Recreation Center (ARC) will operate at normal hours on Monday, 5:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Parks and Recreation will not hold its annual Candlelight March and Memorial celebration. Instead, residents are encouraged to honor Dr. King by having their own candlelight marches in their neighborhoods. Marches should be planned safely with only members of the same household in a group.
