St. Charles Road Sidewalk project construction to begin Monday, Dec. 7

Sam Gaines Construction, Inc., contractor for the City of Columbia, will begin construction on the St. Charles Road Sidewalk project beginning Monday, Dec. 7, weather permitting. This project includes construction of approximately 3,100 linear feet of concrete sidewalk on the north side of St. Charles Road from Demaret Drive to Battle Avenue including a crosswalk with rectangular rapid flashing beacons across St. Charles Road at Demaret Drive. The sidewalk will be constructed along the Lake of the Woods Golf Course and will connect to the existing sidewalk near Battle Avenue.

Drivers are encouraged to exercise extreme caution when in the work zone. 

The estimated project cost is $688,600 funded with a 50/50 cost share with Columbia Public Schools and the City of Columbia. The project is expected to be complete in spring of 2021. For more information on the project, visit CoMo.gov/publicworks/stcharles-sidewalk.
