- The City of Columbia is pleased to announce the addition of a new "instant pay" option for utility customers with Walmart. The payment method provides utility customers with the convenience of paying their City utility bill at any participating Walmart in the country and have it reach the City’s utility billing system in 30 minutes or less.
"This is a huge step forward as we strive to provide additional payment options, enhance convenience and be more accessible to our residents," City of Columbia Treasurer Chelsea Miller said.
Utility customers will need to visit the Walmart customer service area and provide the customer service representative with their bill or full utility account number. Payments made at Walmart must be made in cash or debit card only.
As this is a new payment option with Walmart, if the customer has paid a bill at Walmart previously, they should choose "new biller" to ensure the same-day payment option displays as a choice. If the customer is paying their bill at Walmart for the first time, they should inform the customer service representative they are paying for City of Columbia, Missouri Utilities.
The customer will be given a choice of next day payment for a $1.50 convenience fee or $2.00 for an instant payment. These fees are charged directly by Walmart and are in addition to the payment the customer is making.
The City of Columbia also offers many no fee utility payment options. There are no fees to pay a bill online at MyUtilityBill.CoMo.gov, over the phone at 573.874.7694, by auto draft or mail.
