Update: Cosmopolitan Area Recreation Park homicide investigation continues, juvenile suspect released from detention center, Nov. 5

(COLUMBIA, MO) -

The Columbia Police Department is continuing to investigate the murder of Jermaine Spain. Detectives developed information last night indicating the 15-year-old juvenile who had been detained on this incident is no longer believed to be a suspect in this homicide. The juvenile was immediately released from the Robert L. Perry Juvenile Justice Center and is no longer facing criminal charges related to the homicide.

This is an ongoing investigation, and detectives are continuing to follow leads related to the homicide. At this time, there are no further details to provide.
