Beginning Monday, Nov. 23, at 7 a.m., Jeff Schnieders Construction Company, contractor for the University of Missouri - Columbia plans to remove and replace existing chilled and domestic water utilities. This will result in the closure of both driving lanes and the west sidewalk of South Fifth Street between Elm Street and East Stewart Road. Traffic will be detoured around the closure via temporary traffic control. The work associated with the closures is scheduled to be completed by Jan. 15, 2021 by 5 p.m., weather permitting.
Motorists, pedestrians and nonmotorized transportation users are urged to exercise extreme caution when in the work zone. Pedestrians should use the sidewalk on the east side of South Fifth Street.
