Online interested parties meeting for Wabash Drive extension project scheduled for Nov. 2 - 13

(COLUMBIA, MO) -

The City of Columbia Public Works department is requesting public feedback regarding the Wabash Drive extension project. As part of the City’s public involvement process for capital projects, and due to the impact of the coronavirus outbreak, Public Works is holding an online interested parties (IP) meeting from Monday, Nov. 2 through Friday, Nov. 13 at CoMo.gov/publicworks/wabash-drive-extension.

This project would extend Wabash Drive to Paris Road (Route B) to allow right out turning movements onto Paris Road. The overall goal of the project is to help reduce traffic at the intersections of Oakland Gravel Road and Vandiver Drive and Vandiver Drive and Paris Road and to provide increased connectivity in the area. Construction of this project is currently scheduled to begin in 2021.

Investment for this project is estimated at $125,000 paid from the 2015 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) sales tax.

The online comment period will run from Nov. 2 to Nov. 13.  During this time, citizens may review preliminary plans, contact Public Works staff with questions and comments and complete the IP Comment Form.

Public Works staff may be contacted via the City’s number at 573.874.2489 or via email at [email protected]. The completed IP comment form may be submitted via email or mailed to the City of Columbia Public Works Department, 701 E.
