Columbia Parks and Recreation will open the annual winter trout fishing program at Cosmo-Bethel Park, 4500 Bethel St., at 12 p.m. on Nov. 2.
The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will stock the lake at Cosmo-Bethel with approximately 2,400 trout for the winter trout fishing program. The partnership between MDC and Parks and Recreation increases local fishing opportunities and species diversity in the lake.
All trout must be released, unharmed from Nov. 2 through Jan. 31. Only artificial baits (no natural or scented baits) can be used during that time. Beginning Feb. 1, anglers can harvest trout under statewide regulations. A valid Missouri fishing permit and a trout permit are required.
The winter trout program is administered in partnership with MDC.
