Columbia Parks and Recreation, in cooperation with Cumulus radio stations 102.3 BXR, NASH FM 100.1, 101.5 KPLA and Q106.1, is planning a drive-through Halloween event. The Drive-Boo Trick-or-Treat will be held Oct. 31 at Cosmo Park, 1615 Business Loop 70. The event is set for 3 to 5 p.m. or until all treats are distributed. Drive-Boo is free to attend.
Drive-Boo is being offered as a safe and low-contact trick-or-treating experience this Halloween. Participants will drive through the event, passing by several stops where treats will be distributed through car windows. All participants must remain in their vehicles and wear masks when interacting with event staff and volunteers. In return, staff and volunteers will wear masks and gloves when interacting with participants and passing out wrapped treats.
A "Best Dressed Car" contest will also be held, so participants can "dress up" their vehicles in spooky, silly or fun costumes. Staff will photograph vehicles and post the pictures to 101.5 KPLA’s Facebook page. The public can vote on the submissions, and the winner will receive a Columbia Parks and Recreation gift certificate.
Event-goers should enter Cosmo Park from the south end of the park, off Business Loop 70. Drivers will be asked for their name and contact information for contact tracing purposes.
Parks and Recreation staff is working with the Columbia/Boone County Department of Health and Human Services to ensure COVID-19 guidelines are being followed for the Drive-Boo event. For more information, call Parks and Recreation at 573.874.7460.
