Columbia Police investigate shots fired in the area of Eastwood Drive and Clark Lane on Sept. 26

(COLUMBIA, MO) -

Columbia Police officers responded to four separate reports of shots heard in the area of Eastwood Drive and Clark Lane beginning on Saturday, Sept. 26 at approximately 10 p.m. The last report was at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 27. 

Officers were able to locate several witnesses who directed them to a residence in the Woodlake Apartments, 2609 Eastwood Drive, where they said they heard the gunshots. While officers were searching that area, several spent shell casings were located immediately outside an apartment.

Officers obtained a search warrant for an apartment and associated vehicle that was determined to be involved. As a result of the search warrant, officers located a handgun and ammunition and arrested Jamie Adrian Burns, 26, of Columbia for the charges of armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon. 

There were no injuries or property damage caused by the gunfire. 

There is no further information to provide at this time, as this is an active investigation.
