At approximately 11:45 p.m. on Sept. 19, Columbia police responded to a report of a robbery that occurred in the 700 block of Seventh St.
Upon arrival, officers located a 55 year-old victim who had several lacerations on his head and face. The victim reported that while he was riding his moped on Seventh Street, it died near Rogers Street. As he began walking back toward his residence, the victim reported initially being struck in the back of the head before being attacked by four or five black males.
During the incident, the victim reported the suspects took his wallet, which contained cash and several forms of identification. The victim also reported hearing a gunshot but realized he had not been shot.
Officers were able to locate evidence of a shell casing and blood in the area.
The suspects were last seen running on Seventh Street, and heading eastbound on Rogers Street. No further suspect description is available at this time.
