Columbia Police investigate two shots fired incidents in Columbia, Sept. 17

(COLUMBIA, MO) -

Columbia Police officers responded to the area of Ridgeway Avenue and West Worley Street to a report of shots fired on Thursday, Sept. 17, at approximately 6:00 p.m. 

During the investigation, officers were able to determine the incident happened on West Worley Street between Ridgeway Avenue and Sanford Avenue. Officers located evidence confirming shots were fired. The evidence included spent shell casings and damage to a vehicle, a residence and street signs. There were no injuries reported.  

Witnesses provided a description of two vehicles including a white SUV chasing a small white or light gray vehicle. A witness described the shooter as a thin, black male in his 20s with short hair. 

Officers were able to locate one of the vehicles involved in the 1300 block of Haven Road. The occupants reported that they were fleeing from a vehicle shooting at them. 

One of the occupants, Brian T. McClaine, 41, of Columbia was found to have an outstanding arrest warrant for Driving While Suspended/Revoked and was taken into custody. 

Officers also responded to the 1700 block of Telluride Ln., at approximately 8 p.m., to a report of shots fired. During the investigation, officers located evidence confirming shots were fired. The evidence included spent shell casings and damage to one vehicle and one residence. There were no injuries reported at the time of the incident.  

A witness reported seeing a male, whose race could not be identified, running from the area. It was reported that he was wearing a white or gray jersey with red lettering on the back. 

Both cases are ongoing investigations. There are no further details to provide at this time.
