Beginning Monday, Aug. 31, at 7 a.m., Marschel Wrecking, contractor for 1005 Cherry Street, plans to demolish the existing building. This will result in a lane closure of the southbound lane of Hitt Street between East Broadway and Cherry Street, a sidewalk closure on the west side of Hitt Street between East Broadway and Cherry Street, a sidewalk closure on the north side of Cherry Street between South Tenth and Hitt streets, and the closure of a portion of the alley between Tenth and Hitt streets.
Two-way traffic will be maintained on Hitt Street utilizing temporary traffic control devices and flaggers. The work associated with the closure is scheduled to be completed by Friday, Sept. 4 by 3 p.m., weather permitting.
Motorists and nonmotorized transportation users are urged to exercise extreme caution when in the work zone. Pedestrians should use the sidewalk on the east side of Hitt Street, and the sidewalk on the south side of Cherry Street.
