Public input meeting set for Aug. 12 for Battle Avenue Park property development

(COLUMBIA, MO) -

Columbia Parks and Recreation is holding a public input meeting regarding the development of the master plan and phase one construction of the Battle Avenue Park property, which is located at 2500 Battle Ave. The drop-in meeting will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 12, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Lake of the Woods Golf Course Clubhouse, 6700 St. Charles Rd.

The new park will be on a 30-acre tract adjacent to Eliot Battle Elementary School and Muriel Williams Battle High School. The first phase of development would include a walking trail, small shelter, pond improvements, parking lot, entry drive and mountain bike training course.

Park staff will be available to discuss plans and take public comments. Social distancing measures and the City’s mask ordinance will be enforced during the meeting.

An online survey is available for those who are unable to attend the meeting; the survey is located at this link https://www.como.gov/CMS/WebForms/form.php?formid=384

The phase one development of the Battle Avenue Park property will be funded by the 2015 voter-approved Park Sales Tax.
