(COLUMBIA, MO) - The Columbia Fire Department responded to two structure fires overnight.
Units were dispatched to a residential structure fire at 1408 Fir Place on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at 12:06am. The first unit arrived approximately five minutes later and reported smoke and flames showing.
Fire crews deployed a pre-connected hose line and began an aggressive interior fire attack. Crews reported significant fire inside the home. The fire was brought under control in approximately fifteen minutes. Fire consumed the stairs leading to the basement and extended into the attic space. The home was not occupied at the time of the fire. An Assistant Fire Marshal was dispatched to perform a fire origin and cause investigation. Additional details will be released as they become available.
Nine units from the Columbia Fire Department responded to this call. One firefighter was evaluated for a minor injury.
Crews were dispatched to a second fire at 300 Clinkscales Road at 4:01 am. The first unit arrived less than four minutes later and reported flames showing from the exterior of a duplex. Crews deployed a pre-connected hose line and began an aggressive fire attack. The fire was brought under control in approximately ten minutes. There were two occupants in the involved side of the duplex at the time of the fire. They exited safely with no reported injuries. One firefighter was evaluated for a minor injury.
An Assistant Fire Marshal was dispatched to perform a fire origin and cause investigation. Additional details will be released as they become available.
