Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc., contractor for the City of Columbia, began phase two of the Old Mill Creek Road roundabout on Wednesday, July 22. Phase two is expected to last approximately two weeks, weather permitting.
Motorists heading westbound will be routed onto the new pavement. Country Woods Road will remain closed for the duration of this phase. East bound traffic and motorists wanting to access Old Mill Creek Road will continue to use the bypass. Motorists, pedestrians and nonmotorized transportation users should utilize alternate routes when possible and exercise caution when in the workzone.
The Old Mill Creek Road roundabout is part of the Nifong Intersection Improvement Capital Improvement Project. The project is intended to improve safety, reduce queue lengths and decrease travel times through the removal of four-way stops and the installation of more efficient and sustainable intersections.
