Columbia police investigate reports of indecency near the 1900 block of Forum on the MKT Trail, July 8

(COLUMBIA, MO) -

On July 8, park rangers were contacted by two female citizens relating to two separate incidents of indecency that took place on the MKT Trail near the 1900 block of Forum.

One adult female reported that at approximately 7:30 p.m., she was jogging near the 6.5 mile marker of the MKT trail when she witnessed a male riding a bike with a white t-shirt draped over his neck and his shorts pulled below his waist.

At approximately 7:44 p.m., a second adult female reported that she was laying on a bench when she looked up to see an adult male standing 10 feet away with a bike masturbating while staring at her.

The victims described the suspect as being an adult male of mixed race in his mid-20s, skinny, with clean cut and squared off hair, wearing a baggy white t-shirt and black shorts. We encourage anyone who may have seen or experienced any incidents like this or experience any future incidents to call CPD.

At this time there is no suspect in custody. CPD plans to increase patrol on the MKT Trail to attempt to locate and identify this offender and deter or prevent any similar occurrences.

This is an ongoing investigation. There are no further details to provide at this time.

If the suspect is seen, individuals should not approach him. Please call 911. Anyone with information about this incident, please contact the Columbia Police Department at 573.874.7652 or CrimeStoppers at 573.875.TIPS (8477) to remain anonymous.
