City of Columbia Public Works crews will begin chip sealing streets starting at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, July 7. Work is scheduled to be completed by Thursday, July 21, weather permitting. Crews will perform chip sealing operations Monday through Thursday throughout this time period, beginning at 7 a.m. and ending at 5:30 p.m.
Minor delays are possible. Motorists, nonmotorized transportation users and pedestrians should exercise caution in these areas while crews are working. Flaggers will be present to assist motorists through the workzone. Street sweepers will come through three to four days after a street has been sealed to sweep up any loose materials.
For a full list of the streets planned for chip seal operations in 2020 visit como.gov/publicworks/chip-seal-2020.
This work is part of the 2020 Pavement Management Plan, which was presented to City Council in March 2020. This plan is based on the principle that preventive and rehabilitative street maintenance is more cost-effective than reconstruction.
