After extensive renovations, Columbia Parks and Recreation staff is set to reopen the driving range at L.A. Nickell Golf Course, 1800 Parkside Drive, on Friday, July 3.
The project included construction of a new driving range tee box, irrigation installation on the entire driving range and new cart path for access to the driving range and to hole 15 on the course.
The key component of the project was enlarging the existing hitting area from 6,500 square feet to 26,000 square feet. The larger area will allow for an increase in the number of golfers who can use the area at one time.
The renovations totaled about $50,000 and were paid from the Golf Course Improvement Fee Fund.
The driving range is open during normal golf course operating hours and is an important amenity for tournaments and events at the golf course.
