Update: Columbia police arrest suspect in relation to a homicide in the 2700 block of Quail Drive, May 25

(COLUMBIA, MO) -

On June 12, Columbia police arrested Robert Junior Johnson, 49, Columbia for his role in the homicide that took place in the 2700 block of Quail Drive on May 25. He has been charged with first degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon.

During the investigation, officers learned that Johnson was an accomplice to the shooting. As a result of the incident, Rod Jamal Jones, 36, of Columbia, sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken off life support by a medical team on May 27.

Columbia police is asking for the public’s assistance in locating the primary shooter who has been identified as Bobby Dawson, 38, of Columbia. Dawson is a black male who is 6 foot 1 inches and weighs 180 pounds. He is wanted for first degree murder and armed criminal action.

If the suspect is seen, individuals should not approach him as he is known to be armed and dangerous. Please call 911.

This is an ongoing investigation. There are no further details to provide at this time.
