Columbia Parks and Recreation is planning a "gently used" bicycle sale to benefit the CoMo Bike Co-op. The sale will be held Saturday, June 6 from 12-4 p.m. or until bicycles are all sold. It will be held at the back parking lot of the Armory Sports and Recreation Center, 701 E. Ash.
Shoppers will be able to choose from approximately 50 pre-owned, bike shop quality bicycles of varying sizes to sell. Available sizes include youth and adult bikes; there are no toddler/child-sized bicycles. Prices will vary from $50 to $200 with most sold in the $100 range.
Social distancing guidelines will be in place throughout the sale. A limited number of people will be allowed in the sales area at one time to allow for proper social distancing. Once individuals leave the sales area, more will be allowed in.
Shoppers are encouraged to bring their own helmet to test ride a bicycle; helmets will not be available at the sale. Purchases may be made with cash or a local check with valid identification.
Bicycles have been donated to the Co-op from local bike shops and/or individuals. Available brands include the following: Raleigh, Trek, Specialized, Diamondback, Giant, K2, Univega, Fuji, Ironman, Gary Fischer, Schwinn and Klein. All bicycles have received minor repairs and are in a rideable condition. Local bike shop mechanics will be onsite to offer guidance regarding fit and upgrade possibilities.
All proceeds will benefit the CoMo Bike Co-op. Proceeds will assist with expenses related to bike repair materials and staff. Bike to the Future volunteers will be onsite to provide information and an application to receive a free bicycle via their partnership with Love Inc., details at BikeToTheFuture.Mo.org
