Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc., contractor for the City of Columbia, plans to perform pavement repair on Bethel Street south of West Nifong Boulevard and north of West Southampton Drive starting Tuesday, May 26. This work is part of the Nifong/Forum Corridor Improvement Project.
During repairs, Bethel Street will be a one-way, southbound street from West Nifong Boulevard to West Southampton Drive. While work is expected to take approximately one week to complete, weather permitting, Bethel Street will remain a one-way street until Monday, June 8 to allow the concrete to cure. Keeping traffic off of the pavement during the curing process greatly improves the durability of the pavement and reduces future maintenance costs.
Motorists, pedestrians and nonmotorized transportation users are urged to exercise extreme caution when in the work zone and find alternative routes when possible.
