Correction: Gentara Bennett is 19 years old. The original release incorrectly stated Bennett was 46.
At approximately 2:53 p.m. on May 19, Columbia police responded to a report of a stabbing in front of Lowe’s, located at 201-A Conley Road.
Upon arrival, officers made contact with a female victim, 43, who was transported to a local hospital by emergency medical services to treat non-life threatening injuries.
The suspect was identified as Gentara Bennett, 19, of Columbia. Officers located Bennett inside Sam’s Club, located at 101 Conley Road. At this time, the weapon used is unknown. Bennett was arrested for assault in the first degree, armed criminal action and resisting arrest. There is no known connection between the victim and the suspect.
