(COLUMBIA, MO) - Fire investigators have estimated the loss for this fire at $350,000 in contents and $250,000 for the structure. The origin and cause are still under investigation.
The Columbia Fire Department was dispatched to a commercial structure fire at 3700 Flanders Court, Dollar General, on May 11, 2020 at 11:33am. While en route units reported smoke was visible from Ballenger Road.
The first unit arrived on the scene less than four minutes later and reported moderate smoke coming from a single story commercial structure. Evacuation was in progress. An additional fire company was requested. Fire crews performed an aggressive fire attack using pre-connected hose lines that were advanced into the structure from two separate entrances. They encountered significant heat and smoke upon entry. The fire was brought under control in approximately thirty minutes.
The Fire Marshal was dispatched to perform a fire origin and cause investigation. Additional details will be released as they become available.
Ten units from the Columbia Fire Department responded to this call. There were no reported injuries.
